Boingo Selected As Wireless Provider For Village Of Rosemont, Illinois

Small Cell Provider Boingo to Operate Neutral Host DAS Services and Ad Supported Wi-Fi at Rosemont’s Convention, Entertainment and Sports Facilities, Offering Free, Fast and Reliable Internet Access to 18 Million Visitors Annually

Boingo Wireless (NASDAQ: WIFI), the leading small cell provider that operates DAS and Wi-Fi networks in big venues with large audiences worldwide, announced today that the company has been chosen as the official wireless service provider for the village of Rosemont, Ill., a leading convention and entertainment destination located just outside of Chicago.

The long-term agreement enables Boingo to design, manage and operate neutral host Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and Wi-Fi networks at a variety of locations throughout Rosemont, including the Allstate Arena, Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont Theater and the MB Financial Park at Rosemont entertainment district.

Boingo’s heterogeneous wireless networks, or HetNets, will provide ubiquitous mobile coverage for visitors and residents within the venues and high-traffic areas of the city, and the company’s neutral host approach to DAS and Wi-Fi will maximize accessibility for all wireless providers and their customers. The company’s wireless services will become available throughout Rosemont and the city’s diverse venues in 2014.

“Boingo’s expertise in all things wireless made them a ‘one-stop shop’ for Rosemont’s connectivity needs,” said Village of Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens. “Managing the complex wireless needs of all of our different venues and making it simple for our vendors and visitors to get online easily and reliably are compelling advantages offered by Boingo’s world-class wireless services.”

“The diversity of Rosemont’s requirements leverages all of our strengths. From neutral host, carrier class DAS to free-to-consumer, ad-supported Wi-Fi in convention centers, sports arenas and entertainment venues, we have expertise in designing, deploying and managing the most advanced small cell networks serving large audiences at major venues,” said Doug Lodder, vice president of business development for Boingo Wireless. “Increasingly, venues and municipalities are looking for one source to fulfill all of their wireless needs, and our neutral host approach enhances overall utilization.”

Boingo’s network deployments in Rosemont include all of the village’s major business and entertainment venues and districts. Boingo will augment its existing Wi-Fi services at the 840,000-square-foot Donald E. Stephens Convention Center with a new DAS network. The company will install DAS and Wi-Fi networks in the village’s leading sports and entertainment complexes, including the 18,500-seat Allstate Arena and the Rosemont Theater. Boingo will also install a Wi-Fi network and a macrocell at the recently opened MB Financial Park at Rosemont which will provide complete coverage for guests enjoying a meal, a show or an activity in the new entertainment district. Boingo Wi-Fi will be offered as a complimentary service at all participating Rosemont venues, supported by Boingo Media’s advertising and sponsorship network.

Boingo Wireless also manages and operates neutral host DAS and Wi-Fi networks at more than a dozen high-traffic consumer venues, including Chicago’s O’Hare and Midway airports, and Soldier Field stadium. The company is the number one provider of Wi-Fi in airports worldwide, and also manages Wi-Fi and DAS networks for many other sporting arenas, universities and convention centers nationwide.
