BOINGO ADDS HARTSFIELD-JACKSON ATLANTA INTERNATIONAL TO AIRPORT PORTFOLIO, OFFERS 2-FOR-1 CONNECTS IN TERMINALS
"World's Busiest Airport" Now Among Nearly 200 Airports Accessible to Business Travelers Through Boingo Wireless
SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Oct. 26, 2005 - Boingo Wireless today announced it has added Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) – the "world's busiest airport" with a forecasted 88 million passengers this year– to the Boingo® Roaming System, bringing the total number of airports accessible to Boingo customers to nearly 200 worldwide. Boingo was the inaugural Wi-Fi service provider at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport, which officially launched its airport-wide service today.
Boingo users can connect to the Internet at the airport using the Boingo software or by logging on from Atlanta Airport's Wi-Fi splash page, which also allows first time users to sign up for Boingo service. As an introduction to the Boingo service, the company is offering a special two-for-one deal to new users who sign-up through the airport's Web site -- two one-day connects for $9.95, the standard charge for a single one-day connect.
"Hartsfield-Jackson has built a valuable asset for the community and all who travel here," said Colby Goff, Boingo's senior vice president of network strategy. "Airports are the number one venue for Wi-Fi users, and the new service at Hartsfield-Jackson fills a fundamental need for Boingo subscribers who travel through the Southeast."
In a separate announcement, Hartsfield-Jackson officials today debuted an airport-wide Wi-Fi network to serve the 240,000 passengers who travel through the airport on an average day, the most passengers served by any airport in the world. The network covers more than 5.8 million square feet and provides wireless Internet access through more than 150 access points in the terminal, rail transportation mall and the concourses. Our goal with this network is to expand our global connectivity into the wireless world, and to offer great customer support to all passengers by delivering fast Internet access that is available from everywhere inside the airport," said Ben DeCosta, general manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
"We began this project with a customer-centric focus. Partnering with Boingo – one of the world's leading Wi-Fi aggregators -- will help us to meet our goals," said Lance Lyttle, chief information officer at Hartsfield-Jackson.
