The company's board of directors includes: Sky Dayton (Founder of EarthLink and Boingo), David Hagan (President and CEO of Boingo), Peter Barris (Managing General Partner, NEA), Marc Geller (Co-Founder and Managing Director, Sternhill Partners), Paul Hsiao (Partner, NEA), Mark Kawahara (Investment Partner, Mitsui & Co. Venture Partners), and Jim Caccavo (Founder and Managing General Partner, Steelpoint Capital Partners). Advisory Board To remain perpetually competitive, Boingo will leave no stone unturned. The first two members of our advisory board are Mike O'Dell, former chief scientist at UUNET, and Dave Farber, professor of telecommunications at the University of Pennsylvania and the former Chief Technologist for the FCC. Peter J. Barris Peter joined NEA in 1992, became a general partner in 1993 and managing general partner in 1999. He specializes in information technology companies. His present board memberships include Cidera, DataCore Software, eCommerce Industries, eZiba, Laurel Networks and Megisto Systems. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association. Prior board memberships include UUNET Technologies, AMISYS, Broadview Networks, CareerBuilder, Evolutionary Technologies, Mobius Management Systems, SALIX Technologies and Tripod. Peter is a member of the Board of Trustees, Northwestern University; Board of Overseers, Tuck School at Dartmouth College; and Board of Directors, Venture Philanthropy Partners. Before joining NEA, Peter was President and Chief Operating Officer at LEGENT, and Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Systems Software Division at UCCEL. He also held various management positions between 1977 and 1985 at General Electric, including Vice President and General Manager at GE Information Services. He received a Masters in Business Administration from Dartmouth College and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University. Marc Geller Marc Geller is Co-Founder and Managing Director of Sternhill Partners. He has been managing venture capital funds since 1995. Prior to the formation of Sternhill Partners, he invested in 14 information technology and life science start-ups, totaling more than $40 million. Most recently, he was a general partner with GC Technology Fund, L.P., a $25 million venture fund that invests in information technology and life science companies. To date, four portfolio companies have been acquired, with one more in registration to go public. Marc began his career at Coopers & Lybrand. In 1973, he struck out on his own to form a consulting practice representing high net-worth individuals, offering advice on investment strategies, and estate and tax planning. During the growth phase of the consulting business, he moved to Houston, Texas, to take advantage of the burgeoning growth opportunities in the Southwest caused by the energy crisis of the 1970s. Geller grew the consultancy until it spanned 250 individuals in 25 states. After selling the consulting practice in 1980, Marc went on to develop or acquire approximately 1 million square feet of commercial office space, which was successfully divested. He then became COO of a private real estate investment trust. Marc sits on the boards of directors of Boingo Wireless, Inc. (Santa Monica, CA), Zantaz, Inc. (Pleasanton, CA); Sandlot Corp. (Orem, UT); and Navini Networks, Inc. (Richardson, TX). He holds Bachelor of Arts, J.D. and Master of Laws degrees. Paul Hsiao Paul joined NEA in 2003 as a Kauffman Fellow, became a Principal in 2005 and a Partner in 2007. He focuses on information technology investments with an emphasis on semiconductors, alternative energy and Asia. Paul is a director of Actions Semiconductor (NASDAQ: ACTS), DreamFactory, Luminary Micro, and 3Jam. He works closely with Arch Rock, Atheros Communications (NASDAQ: ATHR), BCD Semiconductor, Cassatt, Glacier Bay, Interlace Systems, Motion Computing, SMIC (NYSE: SMI), Spreadtrum Communications, Telegent Systems and Tivo Greater China (TGC). Prior to joining NEA, Paul was co-founder and VP of Marketing at Mazu Networks, a security software appliance company backed by Matrix Partners, Greylock, and Benchmark Capital. In the mid-1990's, Paul helped start McKinsey & Company's Greater China practice. He began his career as an engineer at Medtronic and Shriners Institute, working on implantable medical devices and bioartificial liver. Paul received his MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Mechanical (Biomedical) Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mark Kawahara Mr. Kawahara has over 10 years experience in various IT industries, including his previous work for Mitsui's global internal information, communication systems and enterprise software businesses. His most recent work has been in the Application Service Provider business for e-mail systems. Mr. Kawahara was a key person in establishing the joint venture between Mitsui, Critical Path, NTT Communications and NEC. Within that joint venture he held the positions of VP of Sales Engineering and Deputy CIO. Mr. Kawahara also provides assistance to start-up companies looking to expand their business globally using his previous experiences and relationship with Japanese companies in the IT world. He holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Nagoya University. Jim Caccavo Jim is a proven entrepreneur with deep operating and financial experience. Prior to forming Steelpoint, Jim was the Managing Director of Moore Capital Management's Private Equity Group. Before joining Moore in 1999, he was president and CEO of Tickets.com. From 1988 to 1996, Jim was a founder and senior executive of Sullivan Communications, helping to build it into a leading graphic arts company. He operated several business units for Sullivan, including: software packaging and distribution; digital imaging; and a special effects business he founded. Jim began his career in finance at Merrill Lynch and GTE Corporation. Jim holds a B.S. in Economics and Finance from the University of Scranton.
